Total And Utter Freedom Is The New Real Wealth

  • Reading time:7 mins read

I have been in observation mode since I landed in Chiang Mai (CM), watching the Farangs (the foreigners/expats), and the local Thai people. I started wondering what exactly indicates someone is wealthy, or someone is poor, in today’s world. If you walk around the markets in CM, you will notice knock-offs for any and every brand you can think of.

I bought knock-off Converse sneakers for $6 – it says Loy Star on the back, but they look as real as any Converse shoe would. With all of these knock-offs available at ridiculous prices, most people in CM are walking around wearing brand-name items. With food being so cheap, most local people buy all of their meals from outside as do the Farangs.

All of this brings up the question, what does true wealth mean in this new world system?

Are you wealthy if you have a lot of time?

I don’t think so. There are many people who sit, and loaf around, drinking all day, but don’t have enough money to do the things they dream about doing. There are local shop vendors with whom I have spoken who tell me how bored they are waiting for customers, begging customers to come in for a massage, and so on. That doesn’t seem like wealth to me.

Either these individuals don’t realize that their time is limited, or they just have too much of it, sitting around waiting for things to happen to them.

How Doing Improv Improved My Business Self

  • Reading time:5 mins read

I started reading ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron on Sep 11th, 2016. Due to the book, I started the practice of ‘Morning Pages’ which are one of the major tools she recommends in order to unblock your creativity and start un-smudging yourself to reveal who you truly are.

The Morning Pages

I have been doing morning pages consistently for the past month and a half. Basically, they are 3 pages of long-hand stream of consciousness writing in the morning as soon as you wake up. It helps remove all the dredge inside your mind and move on from it to more creative and authentic work.

Due to the practice of morning pages, I have been learning more and more about myself. One major revelation that I have had is that I love to perform. This has been a revelation of astronomical proportions to me, because in the past, I have actually shied away from performance, as I believed it to be a waste of time, and a nuisance. In fact, these thoughts were not mine, but thoughts transmitted to me through my parents who believed it to be so.

[Ep 22] The Universe is Perfect and We are Deserving of Abundance

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be talking about something that I deal with every day. It’s the feeling of not deserving what I currently have (abundance) and feeling extreme guilt for all that I am lucky enough to have.

For example, a few days ago, I had a full day filled with amazing conversations with friends. We spent hours discussing current events, politics, and other interesting topics. I went back home feeling loved, happy, and cheerful. I felt like everything was right with the world. There was this peace and contentment in my heart that just felt so right. I felt in complete alignment with the universe.

Even though the day was perfect, I still had a random thought. “Do I deserve having these amazing conversations with these amazing people?” and even “Do I even deserve to be happy?”

These thoughts are pulling me back and down. I have to consciously stop thinking this way. It is blocking the flow of good karma, joy and opportunities my way. I was sabotaging myself.

Risk Makes Life More Fulfilling, Richer, And More Alive

  • Reading time:11 mins read

The year 2016 has become a year of transformation and risk for me. I have taken more risks in this year than I have in a last long while. Why is that? Because my definition of risk has changed. I have started looking at risk in a completely different manner. Risk is a mandatory item in my daily arsenal now. I know that it is necessary for my growth and improvement. I know it is an absolute must so I take on risk every single day as who I am.

It began with that huge step. Quitting my 9-5 job to finally become an entrepreneur, and an online business owner. Did I know where it would go from there? Would I ever make money from it? Did I know what I was doing with my life? No to all. I was completely lost and clueless. That’s how I lived for a few months after quitting my job.

My Risky Journey In 2016 Outlined In 3 Paragraphs

I had no idea that that one risk would completely tumble my life upside down. From that one risk, my self-esteem improved, and my risk-averse personality faded a bit. I realized risks actually enhanced a person’s life, and allowed them to live more freely and authentically. That one risk caused another major risk to come into my life – I moved to Chiang Mai to live for six months. Something I had been dreaming about doing for years now, but never got down to it. So many un-lived dreams inside of me.

The move to Chiang Mai bought with it other risks that I would never have attempted as the old Shikha. I went to an improv workshop (freaking out the whole time), I rode a motorbike on the streets of Chiang Mai (terrified absolutely the whole time), I bought a ukulele (learning how to play it) and I took a watercolour lesson which I absolutely addicted to right now.

All of these steps might be minor to some, major to others. To me, they encompass that life where I’m bold, brave, and beautiful. They represent to me that Shikha who is the Shikha I want to be – the one who is bright, shiny, admired, loved, brave, bold, and forever filled with love.

[Ep 21] The Foundation Matters in Everything, Especially Trading

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this podcast episode, I chatted with TraderChick Marina, another one of my online friends. She helps people in the world of trading specifically focusing the beginners.

Interesting fact: Stocks account only for about 25% of trading.

As a trader, Marina is not as imposing as others might be. She wants her clients to choose what field they want to invest on. She even pointed out an analogy that people who read books should read what interests them.

Let’s say you’re a fan of novels, so read novels. If you like medical literature, go find a good medical book and read it. It’s the same with markets—not only are your reading your market, but you should focus on what you like to read (trade).

Surrender To The Universe And All Will Come

  • Reading time:10 mins read

In the past few months, I have been practicing mindfulness in a big way. I have been able to stay present in the moment because I have been enjoying building my business and all the other things I have been up to so very much. The absolute perfect side-effect of being mindful is surrendering to the goodness of the universe. It wasn’t something I expected to happen, as I was an absolute control freak in my past life. But meditation, mindfulness, and creative risks have all caused me to become more open to the universe, and its plan for me.

The Universe Loves Us All

Surrendering to the perfectness of the universe isn’t easy. But it starts off with a simple belief. ‘The Universe loves me, and wants to take care of me.’ This simple thought is hard for most people to comprehend. Most people walk around with the perception that this is a hard world to live in, that the world is out to get them, and if they want to survive, they need to fight this world. We go into life everyday thinking it is a battlefield, when in actuality it is a beautiful dance.

The mindset shift that is required is crucial in this case. You cannot think that the universe hates you and is out to get you, and still believe that the universe’s plan for you is going to work. I hope this makes sense to you. Let’s expand further.

Control Freaks Beware

The trend of controlling behaviour is quite alarming. OCD and its parallel behaviours are becoming quite common among people nowadays. This world increasingly feels out of control and scary. In order to deal with these feelings, we try to control ourselves and our environments as much as possible. We try to plan, analyze, attack, and accumulate to the max. Every little thing has to be controlled.

[Ep 20] Health Coaches Need A Coach Too, Didn’t You Know?

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this podcast episode, we get a chance to chat with Yuliya, one of my dearest friends. She runs the vibrant community at Health Coach HQ and she helps health coaches build a profitable and exciting business for themselves. This girl is passionate, and full of energy.

Even if Yuliya is a bright and happy individual right now, like most people she has had a dark past. She shared with us that she had experienced years of depression where she even questioned her existence.

That’s when she searched for an outlet to release all of that negative energy. Just like me, Yuliya chose to try out meditating and yoga.

The More I Meditate, The More My Intuition Builds Up

  • Reading time:5 mins read

One of the main reasons I am such an advocate of meditation is because of the effect it has on intuition. For those of us, who are looking to build their intuition, or connect better with our gut, meditation is one of the most powerful tools I have found. In this blog post, I’ll answer your questions about meditation and its relation to intuition.

Why does Intuition Matter?

So many of us spend way too much of our time listening to the outside voices in our life, like our parents, society, and the world. Instead of listening to our inner self, our true self, and our authentic self, we listen to everyone else. If all of us spent less time listening to the outside world, and actually listening to what we truly want, we would be living a more fulfilling life.

For the longest time, I heard my intuition tell me what I should be doing with my life. But my parents told me to take another path. I listened to them at first, because it felt like the ‘right’ thing to do. I wanted to be a good daughter.

But constantly, that voice inside my heart, my intuition kept at me, telling me I was on the wrong path. My intuition was adamant that I should change my path. The thing about our intuition is that if at first we don’t listen to it, the voice gets stronger and stronger, but eventually, if we don’t listen to it, it stops talking to us altogether. Luckily enough, my intuition kept bugging me, and telling me to try a different path.

For ten whole years, it told me I was on the wrong path. Everything I did just didn’t feel right, because it wasn’t the path for me. When we are living on the right path, everything falls into place seamlessly. When we are living the wrong path, everything seems stilted, suffocating, and slow-moving.
