[Ep 79] Do You Know What Your Values Are?

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be chatting with you about values and how we all should figure out our values that will then help guide our life choices and paths.

Have you ever done your value system? Its very easy to work out what your top five values are and knowing them will help you work towards your ideal life. Life can be crazy and hectic. Knowing our core values will help us live a happy, and positive life. Not only that, it will also help us prioritize our goals, and guide our life in the right direction.

Podcast Content

  1. Have you done your value system?
  2. What are your values?
  3. The values I live by
  4. Why having an understanding of our core values is important

Once you understand what your top values are, use the most important value to guide you and your choices in life. My top value in life in freedom. I want to have as much freedom in my life as possible. I want the freedom to live where I want, to spend my money how I wish, and to work on the projects I choose.

This is how I view freedom, but this might be very different from how someone else views freedom. Your values are for yourself, and no one else. Make sure your values are true to you and your beliefs. Someone else might view freedom as the ability to surf all day long, or not work a 9 to 5 job. To someone else, it might be financial freedom. This doesn’t mean that your idea is wrong, it’s just personal to you.

Sit down, decide on your top core values and live your life by them. If you have to make any tough decisions, refer to your values first and make sure they are in line with each other. This will help you live a happy and ideal life.

[Ep 78] Dreamwork To Understand The Subconscious Mind

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be speaking about dreamwork and how we can use our dreams to understand our subconscious mind and the signs and signals that the universe is sending our way through our subconscious and dreams.

Some people don’t think dreams are very important. They’re just something random that happens while we sleep and when we awake, they are done and over with. Dreams are so much more than that – they are a gateway, a pathway, a tunnel into the future; to what we wish to have, what we wish to be, and what we wish to let go of.

If we remember and really focus on our dreams, they can tell us so much information about us and our subconscious. Emotions and thoughts that we didn’t even realize we had.

Podcast Content

  1. Why dream analysis and interpretation is so worthwhile
  2. How our subconscious communicates with us using dreams
  3. How dreams can bring us hope and joy
  4. How you can analyze your dreams

Most of the time we don’t truly understand what is happening inside our subconscious. One way for us to communicate with it is through dreamwork. Sometimes dreams can be silly, and not make much sense. But if we could just sit down and focus on our dreams, we would realize in all of their silliness and meaninglessness, they are always trying to communicate something important with us.

We need to be more aware of our dreams and the events take place inside them. What moments stand out to you? And how do you think that links to your life? Dreams can be a source of hope, happiness, and joy, if only we let them be.

I find it best to write about my dreams as soon as I wake up. This way I can still remember most of my dream. Although your dream might not make sense to you right away, this doesn’t mean that it’s actually meaningless. Just wait for it, and the meaning and importance will become apparent soon enough.

[Ep 77] Gain Momentum By Doing Something Every Day

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I will be talking to you about momentum and how if you do something every day in your chosen field of success, you will receive the success that you wish for.

Every day, we should be building momentum in everything we do. It’s so easy to roll over and say you’re sick or your tired and you’ll do it tomorrow but once we stop, even for a day, we lose momentum. If we lose momentum, then progress in our chosen fields becomes harder and harder.

Whatever it might be – getting better in your sport, or at an instrument, or moving your business forward or your friendships and relationships; daily momentum matters. Daily, consistent, persistent, and small movements every day is necessary.

Podcast Content

  1. Life is like a game of chess
  2. We must play the long game
  3. How can you move your life forward?
  4. Dedicate time in your day to progress daily in your chosen field

We can play life like a giant game of chess. In chess, you must move a chess piece forward to progress. Unless you move a piece forward, you will not be playing to win. It’s all about risk-taking – even if you don’t know if you will be successful or how you will be successful, movement will ensure you will move forward. This is the same in life, every day you should do something, no matter how big or how small that will help you progress in life.

With your business, it could be updating your website or making a new connection. With your sport, it could be practicing your sport every day.

If you don’t have too much free time, that’s fine. A quick five minutes focusing on your passion will definitely add up in the long run. Life is long, and it can’t be rushed.

As long as you are doing something, you will move forward and gain progress in life. One little thing every day will set you on the right tracks for the life you want to lead.

You Can’t Go Back, No Matter How Hard You Try

  • Reading time:4 mins read

Recently, I went to Dubai for a quick transit trip. I hadn’t been back to Dubai in 18 years at that point. I had spent some of the happiest years in my teenage years in Dubai, and then we left when I was 16. It was a bittersweet end to a few brilliant years in the country and I always had this desire, this internal wanting to go back – to go visit my childhood place, the country where I had made so many beautiful memories.

A few days ago, I got that wish fulfilled. I was going to visit my birthplace, India, for 3 whole weeks, and we were going to transit through none other than Dubai. Wow, what a coincidence. Could this be a sign from the universe? Telling me perhaps that I can go back and capture those years and memories from the past.

Of course, you know where this story is going. As the taxi drove us around the hot concrete jungle that is Dubai, I felt a pang in my heart. This is not my Dubai. This is not the place that I remember in my heart – the place that I had been dutifully storing in my memories for so long. It was an imposter! I felt angry, and betrayed. I felt hurt, and confused.

[Ep 76] No Matter What, Come Back To Your Breath

  • Reading time:2 mins read

Most of us think that just because we do something all the time, that we must be good at it. That’s not always the case. We breathe naturally throughout the day without even thinking about it but most of us never focus on the WAY we breathe.

When life throws obstacles in our way, we tend to panic or become scared or worried. When we feel these emotions are breathing tends to become more rapid and shallow. That isn’t a great way to deal with worries or panic. If we could become more conscious of our breath, and bring ourselves back into our bodies, that would be the best way to deal with the situation.

Podcast Content

  1. Why are we breathing wrong?
  2. How can we breathe correctly?
  3. Focusing on deep breaths
  4. The book, The Big Leap
  5. Bring everything back to your breath

At some point in our lives, we will all feel fear, and panic. These negative emotions can cause us to breath incorrectly. During these times, what we really should be focusing on is our breathing, breathing as deep as possible and as slowly as possible.

We should try to really focus on the air entering our body, our in-breath, and the air exiting our body, the out-breath. If we do this, it will relax us and slow our body down, calm our mind down and put us back in a good head space.

You can also change your emotion by changing the way you breathe. Feeling excited and feeling fear are very similar emotions, just two sides of the same coin. Imagine you are on the edge of a swimming pool, about to dive in. You are scared but also excited and thus, these emotions get confused in our bodies and our minds. They are different only because of the kind of breathing that accompanies each of them.

If you’re in a situation where you feel scared or fear, just take a second. Focus on your breathing and this should calm you down and change that fear into excitement or adrenalin, both of which will pump you up and get you going.

[Ep 75] The Classic 80/20 Rule In Relationships

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be talking about the classic 80/20 rule in relationships by Pareto.

The 80/20 rule means that 80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs. This rule applies to almost everything in life, be it relationships, learning, money, work, or happiness.

We see many different people running around town who appear to be busy. But most of these people tend to accomplish very little. Why? Because we waste time on tasks that our of a low value to us and don’t focus on our main goals and ambitions in life. The big goals and aims we have in life tend to be the hardest, which is why people tend to avoid them and waste time on less valuable goals.

Podcast Content

  1. The 80/20 Rule by Pareto
  2. My life with the 80/20 Rule applied
  3. Self-actualizing people
  4. Do you surround yourself with negative people?

One example of the 80/20 rule in everyday life is with relationships. In life, we might have three or four amazing friends, but we don’t give these people enough love or attention because we waste our time on associates and negative people.  Why do we waste so much of our precious time and energy on negative people, people who don’t support us and who aren’t there for us in life?

We need to surround our self with positive people, who will have a good impact and add to our life. Spend our valuable and limited time on this each focusing on the people and things we love instead of wasting it.

People tend to have the same personality of the five closest people to them. Are the people you associate with positive? You are probably very similar to these people so do they bring a good energy to your life and bring you up? If not, why do you waste your time on these people?

If you spend your days with positive people, then you will bring positivity into your life. Apply the 80/20 rule in your life, and in your relationships to gain benefits that you never thought possible before. Stop wasting your time on nonsense, and come back to the important stuff that really matters.

[Ep 74] Body Meditation To Release Trauma

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be speaking to you about a new form of meditation I’ve started doing called TRE, Tension and Trauma Release.

I found this type of mediation to be very powerful and intense and it brought out a lot of emotions inside my body that I didn’t realize I had.

The exercise was created by Dr. David Berceli, Ph.D. and he created it because he noticed that during traumatic events, children shake naturally in order to release trauma and afterwards they are able to go about their day as if nothing has happened. Adults do not do this. We hold ourselves very rigid. Which means, we store years and years of trauma in our bodies, without even realizing it.

Podcast Content

  1. TRE Meditation
  2. My experience doing TRE
  3. Releasing my trauma
  4. We don’t we listen to our body?

When I tried this type of exercise, I realized that I had a lot of emotions inside my body that I was not conscious too. After tremoring, I personally released a lot of grief and I had tears in my eyes (without the act of crying), which was fascinating to me, because I had no idea I was storing this kind of emotion. TRE affects everyone in a different manner.

Most of us are not conscious and aware of what’s happening inside our bodies. And if our bodies try to tell us that something is wrong, we tend to ignore it.

This form of exercise is very strong and powerful and can be overwhelming, but it is so worth doing! Tremoring is a natural way our bodies can release stress. Just because a person looks happy, does not mean that they are happy deep down. You could have all this stress and trauma locked up inside you and not even know.

I absolutely recommend that you find a place near you that teaches the technique of TRE. They will help you release of all of that pent-up emotion and trauma that is stored inside of your body now. Your body and spirit will thank you for it.

[Ep 73] Circumstances Do Not Make The Man…

  • Reading time:2 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be talking about a quote in a book by James Allen.

Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him to himself.

Our life is dictated by the way we choose to think. If our life seems like it is hard or negative things keep happening, then maybe its because you keep on expecting negative things to happen to you, and voila, negative things happen. Whatever we expect, will come true, because of the power of our mind, especially if there’s strong emotion associated with it, which negative thoughts usually have.

If you have a positive mindset and believe that good things will happen to you, then there is a high chance that this will happen as well.

You can decide which direction you want to travel in.

Podcast Content

  1. Quote by James Allen
  2. Use life as a clue
  3. Changing your mindset
  4. Rid negative people from our lives
  5. Create your perfect life through your mindset

If your life is not going the way you want it to go, or you’re not happy with something in your life. You need to take a step backward and think about your current mindset. If you have a negative outlook on life, then how is how you will live your life.

Through meditation, journaling, and other morning routine items, I have slowly but surely changed my mindset towards life, and now I’m happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. It really is all about being in the right frame of mind. If you wake up everyday hating your job, guess what, your job is going to suck, and you are going to hate being there. Think about it. Why are you still there? It’s in your power to change that situation, you could leave and be happy. Or if you can’t change it, then accept it, and learn to love it.

Our happiness and our life in completely in our hands. Our thoughts create our reality. IF you are not happy with your life, change your thoughts, fix it.

[Ep 72] Action Matters More Than Plans

  • Reading time:2 mins read

How true is this! How many times have you planned to have a catch up with a friend or plan to go get a coffee and it never happens? Instead of wasting time making plans, why don’t we just do things? Instead of pretending like we are going to do someday far away in the future, why don’t we take action right now?

I was recently involved in a scavenger hunt. All of the other teams started planning. My team was the only one who did things differently – we got up right away and took action. This got me thinking. Why do some people spend time creating plans and strategies instead of taking some solid, tangible action?

Actions speak louder than words, don’t they? Or at least they should, in my opinion.

Podcast Content

  1. Strategizing vs Actions
  2. Practice makes perfect
  3. We all need to accept our failures
  4. Stop putting people on pedestals

Yes, planning has its place in our lives. Plan and strategize the big events in your life. Plan out what you want to achieve during the year, at work… but certain other things, instead of planning them out, we should just be going all out and doing.

We could get so much more done during our days if we just do instead of plan. We are so scared of failure that we don’t even want to try in the first place.

The interesting thing about doing is that it makes us better and better. The more we work at something, the better we will become at that particular task, and thus, we will be able to do it faster in the future. Eventually, perhaps, becoming experts at it.

We need to start taking more risks in life, take more actions and strategize while doing. Don’t waste time planning out every step in your life because life will fly right past you. We need to live for the day and get stuff done.

I hope you will take this message to heart and become a doer rather than a talker.
