It’s easy to believe that if you are going through a difficult situation that it’s an excuse for you to put your legs up, watch Netflix for days on end, and not do anything productive at all. Pandemic 2020 has shown us that.
A day or two of this is acceptable. Even a week. But I have noticed many of my friends behaving as if the end of the world is here, and they have battened down the hatches to get ready to die.
They are passing their time as if it’s only a matter of time before they are done for.
Is that the best approach to this spiritual test that we are undergoing right now? I have an opinion on this that I will share below. Read on to see what it is.
Spiritual Tests Aren’t Supposed to Be Easy – They Are Challenging for a Reason
I don’t know where we got this idea that spiritual tests are supposed to be easy. If they didn’t challenge us a bit, if they didn’t get us out of the green zone (our comfort zone) into the yellow zone, then what’s the point?
The interesting thing about humans is that we love the idea of a challenge until it’s put upon us. More than that, the problem with humans is that we don’t learn until we are given a test. Until we are challenged somehow.
I’m sure we can all agree that right now, the Pandemic 2020, is a particularly challenging time for most involved. It’s also a time where you can use this challenge to propel you forward.
Are you going to sit around on your bum waiting for this to end? Or are you going to thrive in it, by using it to make you a more well-rounded person?
The choice is yours.
If You Need to Sit and Cry or Mope or Recharge Yourself, Do, but Don’t Take Forever
It’s an easy time for a copout. Oh, but everything is so hard, we complain, and snuggle under the covers for two months straight.
Well, that’s one way to face it.
Look, I’m not saying that some days are going to be too intense for you and you are going to need to hide under the covers, eat chips, and forget about it all. I’ve been there. We’ve all been there.
But after a day of this or a week, it’s time for you to face the fact that things aren’t going to change anytime soon.
Just because you’ve decided not to interact with the world, doesn’t mean that the world isn’t going to interact back with you. The world and its problems (read your problems), are still out there and still waiting for you.
You can hide, but you can’t hide forever. Eventually, the problems will come swooping down on you and you won’t be able to do anything about it.
It’s better if you decide that you are not going to delay things anymore and deal with them head on as they come. Right now.
2021 Might Be Better, or It Might Not – Pandemic 2020 Might Go On
There’s this insane idea roaming about that 2021 will be better, miraculously, suddenly, and astonishingly better. Hmm. I don’t know about you, but I know when I am being fed a lie.
2021 is a random moment in time created and delineated by humans. The world, the pandemic, the virus – they are all unaware of the year change from one to the next. The virus is still going to keep on doing its thing.
The problem then lies with you and your way of thinking.
Are you going to pretend like the Pandemic 2020 is the problem? Or are you going to realize that your attitude to the challenge is the problem?
There are some people right now, who are thriving despite the challenges. There are others who are dying. And yet others who are hiding.
Which one of these do you want to be?
Harsh? But I’m sick of seeing people say that they are waiting for 2021 to come. It will come and things will be exactly the same and they will be surprised. Then they will start waiting for 2022. And so on.
Until they die. Even then, they might say, well, the next life will be better, I’ll wait for that, thank you very much.
Don’t Wait – Start Now, Get Out and Face This Spiritual Test Head On
It’s easy to say that the Pandemic 2020 is the problem and that 2021 will bring all the fame, fortune, and miracles that you deserve.
But have you been working for it? Have you been striving for it? Or have you been watching Netflix?
Don’t wait. Keep at it. Face the test. Pass it. And realize that there will be another spiritual test coming soon after that. It never ends. Not even after death.
So forget about taking a rest. Focus on taking the test. To the best of your ability.
