Here is what we will speak about in this episode.
- Why the digital detox is essential
- Importance of melatonin
- Why you shouldn’t eat or exercise right before sleeping
- How routines help you gain control over yourself and your time
One of the most significant things you need to have in your nighttime routine is a digital detox. You need to stop using any digital screen for an hour or two before you go to sleep, so you have time for melatonin to form in your body.
It includes an iPad, phone, or computer. If you use any of these devices before you go to sleep, your sleep quality reduces.
You should avoid eating or exercising within three hours of going to sleep. It is another major thing to add to your nighttime routine. When you exercise, there is a 12-hour period where your metabolisms and heartbeats increase.
And instead of going to bed, you want to be able to take advantage of that and be productive. Exercising in the morning is recommended because you feel energized and pumped after it.
Some More Nighttime Routines Tips
You want to have your bedroom completely dark when you sleep. Many people don’t like so much darkness. Hence, they have night lights on. But again, it prevents the formation of melatonin in your body.
The temperature level in your bedroom must be cool. Not too hot, not too cold. When your body temperature falls, your body starts falling asleep. If there is noise outside your house, try listening to white noise like the soothing sound of a river.
Journaling before going to sleep is also another thing one should do. Writing about what your day was like is a perfect way of allowing yourself to do better every day.
If you have a good morning and nighttime routine, then you’re gaining control of yourself because that time is yours and yours only. Our lives are affected by external things every other day. Many things around us control our lives. Introducing such routines in your day is a creative way of grounding yourself and taking control.
